Qualifications and Educational Requirements

We are looking for an instructional aide who would assist predominantly in a 1/2nd combined class but would also assist in the Kindergarten and be available as a floater as needed. This is a full time position and the most important duties would be to:


  • Provide direct instruction of students under direct supervision of teacher.
  • Conduct instructional activities assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
  • Assist in classroom management.
  • Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials.
  • Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Help supervise students throughout the day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunch and playground duty.
  • Participate in staff training programs.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and special events.

Job Summary

Responsible for instructing students in an elementary school from grades K-5. Creates lesson plans, instructs students on subjects such as science, literature, and math, and creates a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional program.

Primary responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.
  • Plan and implement projects that serve real needs in the community.
  • Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.
  • Maintain student assessments.
  • Utilize instructional practices that promote student engagement and ownership.
  • Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
  • Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
  • Establish and communicate clear learning targets for all learning activities.
  • Observe and evaluate students’ performance.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by implementing Responsive Classroom procedures.
  • Be committed and work intentionally in the area of spiritual formation in the students.
  • Create positive educational climate for students to learn in.
  • Participate in ongoing training sessions.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly class newsletters.
  • Attend all faculty meetings and important school events.


  • Qualified candidates must have a BA or BS in early childhood or elementary education: Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience with Responsive Classroom, Fundations, and Investigations Math would be helpful, but we can train in these areas
